EXPERIMENTAL SETUPS
A variety of air and water flow facilities are available at IFDT. These include experimental setups for circular, elliptic, and plane jets, mixing layers and pipe flows. A 15ft x 15ft x 15ft anechoic chamber suitable for instability studies in a quiet environment and study of jet noise sources is also available. Instrumentation includes hot-wire and hot-film anemometries, laser-doppler anemometry and holographic visualization instruments. Our laboratory has pioneered a number of noninvasive holographic measurement techniques suitable for flows laden with minute particles.
COMPUTATIONAL RESOURCES
Access to the computational clusters at the UH Texas Learning and Computation Center (TLCC) and at the UH High Performance Computing Center (HPCC) is provided to students interested in pursuing computational fluid dynamics studies. In addition, IFDT owns state-of-the-art Linux/PC visualization facilities that can be utilized for advanced graphical applications.
