           DECORATED  PROFESSOR  ADDS  FARFEL  AWARD  TO  HIS  LONG  LIST  OF  HONORS
 
Fazle Hussain will need a larger trophy room as this year's recipient of the University of Houston's highest faculty honor. Already one of the most decorated scholars in his field, Hussain now can add the 2007 Esther Farfel Award to his list of accomplishments. The award brings with it a $10,000 cash prize and an acknowledgement of overall career excellence.

HUSSAIN  TO  LEAD  MECHANICAL  ENGINEERING  SECTION  OF  NAE;   RECEIVES  NSF  GRANT
 
Fazle Hussain, Hugh Roy & Lillie Cranz Cullen Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering, has been elected as an officer of the National Academy of Engineering's Mechanical Engineering Section. His three-year term, which begins on July 1, includes one-year terms as secretary and then vice-chair and will culminate with Hussain serving as chair of the Mechanical Engineering Section, one of the most prestigious positions in the mechanical engineering community.

University of Houston Cullen Distinguished professor and Institute of Fluid Dynamics director, Dr. Fazle Hussain, received the 1998 American Physical Society Fluid Dynamics Prize. The citation for his award reads: "For his careful and skillful experiments and interpretative concepts concerning important structures in turbulence and vortex dynamics, for his new turbulence measurement techniques, and for provoking his students and colleagues to think in fresh ways about turbulence."
